Our Approach to Care
We believe in meeting people where they are, working at a pace that honors their body's needs, and creating space for genuine rest and restoration.
How moonpetales Began
moonpetales opened in Kaohsiung in early 2019 after founder Lin Chen spent several years working in Thai massage settings across Southeast Asia. During that time, she noticed a pattern: clients often felt rushed through sessions, practitioners worked mechanically rather than responsively, and the emphasis fell on completing a routine rather than addressing actual needs.
When Chen returned to Taiwan, she envisioned a different kind of practice — one where sessions could unfold at a natural pace, where practitioners took time to assess what was actually happening in someone's body before beginning work, and where clients felt genuinely heard rather than processed.
The name moonpetales reflects this philosophy. Both the moon and petals follow their own rhythm, neither can be hurried, and both require patience to appreciate fully. These same principles guide how we work with clients.
Our space on Bo'ai 2nd Road was chosen deliberately. The neighborhood is quiet enough to support relaxation but accessible enough that people don't have to navigate complicated routes to reach us. We wanted to remove barriers between someone recognizing they need care and actually receiving it.
Meet Our Practitioners
Each member of our team brings different strengths and areas of focus. We match clients with practitioners based on session type and individual preferences.

Our Standards of Practice
These principles guide every session we conduct and every decision we make about how to serve clients.
Client Privacy
All health information shared during consultation remains confidential. We maintain separate treatment records and never discuss client details with anyone outside our practice without explicit permission.
Professional Training
Every practitioner has completed accredited Thai massage certification programs and participates in ongoing skill development. We maintain memberships with professional bodywork associations.
Informed Consent
Before each session, we explain what techniques will be used, what sensations to expect, and how to communicate preferences. You maintain full control over what happens during your time with us.
Hygiene Standards
Treatment spaces are thoroughly cleaned between clients. Linens are laundered after each use. Practitioners wash hands before and after every session. Equipment is sanitized daily.
Product Safety
All oils and products used during sessions are hypoallergenic and free from synthetic fragrances. Ingredient lists are available upon request. We accommodate sensitivities and allergies.
Clear Communication
We explain pricing, session duration, and what's included before you book. There are no hidden fees or surprise charges. If something isn't working during a session, we adjust immediately.
What Guides Our Work
Respect for Individual Experience
What feels appropriate for one person may be entirely wrong for another. We don't assume we know what you need based on demographics or appearance. Each session begins with questions and observation, not predetermined protocols.
Skill Over Speed
We book fewer sessions per day than many practices, which means practitioners work without time pressure. This allows for more thorough assessment, more responsive technique adjustment, and more genuine attention to what's happening in real time.
Honesty About Scope
Thai massage offers many benefits, but it's not appropriate for every situation. If someone contacts us with a concern that would be better addressed by a different type of provider, we'll say so directly and suggest alternatives. We don't stretch our scope to capture business.
Accessibility Considerations
Our ground-floor location has step-free access. Treatment spaces accommodate mobility devices. We're happy to discuss any access needs before your visit so we can prepare appropriately. Language support is available in Mandarin, Taiwanese, and English.
